Washington Theater

The Washington Theater, designed in 1924, was one of the first major construction projects in the northern part of Pasadena, and is an early example of a mixed-use
development, consisting of a theater, retail shops, and apartments. Over the last two
decades the building has suffered from neglect.  Pasadena Heritage and other
community groups are deeply concerned that the building has now been unoccupied for
nearly ten years. To highlight the significance of the Washington Theater and provide
incentives for a rehabilitation project, Pasadena Heritage has submitted a land
mark nomination for the building to the city.

Our Washington Theater Landmark Nomination hearing has been postponed from Feb. 1 to Tuesday,  Feb. 16, at the Historic Preservation Commission. Letters of support still needed and welcome and can be sent to vchima@cityofpasadena.net with a copy to preservation@pasadenaheritage.org
