Interesting and rewarding volunteer opportunities are awaiting you at Pasadena Heritage! Volunteers are needed to work during the week as well as on weekend events. We have opportunities for outgoing and friendly tour docents, projects for people who prefer to work quietly behind the scenes and activities for those who like working with others. Event volunteers work during special events such as home tours, the Celebration on the Colorado Street Bridge and Craftsman Weekend.
Whether you see volunteering as a way to enrich your membership, to get to know people involved with preservation, or to pursue a personal interest, we hope that volunteering with Pasadena Heritage will be a great experience. Volunteer assignments are tailored to best suit your availability, interest and talents. Volunteering with Pasadena Heritage is a great way to support preservation in our community.

Craftsman Weekend - At the close of each year an event planning committee forms in preparation for the 3-day Craftsman Weekend educational conference in October. Craftsman Weekend celebrates Pasadena as a hub for the American Arts & Crafts Movement during the early 1900’s through present day. The Craftsman Weekend Committee meets monthly from January to October in preparation for this unique and nationally recognized collection of events. Volunteer committee members share in the planning and organization of tours, lectures, receptions, workshops, the Craftsman Exposition, Silent Auction and more. Volunteers interested in this committee should note the 10 month commitment.

Historic Home Tour Docents and Hosts: Volunteers are needed as docents and hosts for historic home tours in the spring and fall each year. In the spring, Pasadena Heritage offers our annual Spring Home Tour, traditionally on the last Sunday in March. The tour’s theme varies, featuring a noted architect or an architectural era or style. In the fall, Pasadena Heritage celebrates Craftsman Weekend during the 2nd weekend each October. Craftsman Weekend is the largest conference devoted to the Craftsman era of architecture in the western United States. (Craftsman Weekend also has many opportunities for docents and hosts to participate in a collection of bus and walking tours.) Volunteers for these events attend a special training at the house to which they are assigned prior to the tour. Docents share scripted material and background with tour goers, while hosts are present to help guests move throughout each property. Volunteer shifts are 2-1/2 hours in length. Before and or after an assigned shift, volunteers are welcome to view the other homes on tour as our guests.
