Craftsman Heights Walking Tour

Take a walk through one of Pasadena’s remarkable early residential neighborhoods and discover the stories behind Craftsman Heights.

Developed in the early 1900s as Pasadena expanded, Craftsman Heights is filled with beautifully preserved examples of the Craftsman style, from broad porches and low-pitched roofs to exposed rafters, Arroyo stone, and handcrafted wood details. Along the way, we’ll look at the architects, builders, and homeowners who shaped the neighborhood, including the work of David M. Renton, William C. Leonardi, Robert F. Foss, and others.

We’ll explore what makes a Craftsman a Craftsman, how these homes reflect Pasadena’s Arts and Crafts ideals, and the resident-led preservation effort that helped protect the neighborhood as a Landmark District.
