Duncan-Irwin House & Neighborhood Tour
Join us for a rare opportunity to step inside the Duncan-Irwin House, an early Greene & Greene home dating to 1906 and one of Pasadena’s genuine architectural treasures.
The house began as the home of Catherine Duncan before being purchased by Theodore and Molly Irwin, who hired Charles and Henry Greene to transform the existing structure into their Pasadena winter retreat. The result is a fascinating example of the Greenes’ early work and the evolution of their approach to Arts and Crafts design.
The program will begin with an abbreviated walking tour of the surrounding neighborhood, followed by an exclusive tour of the Duncan-Irwin House. This is a unique chance to experience the house from the inside, see its craftsmanship and details up close, and learn more about the history of this remarkable property.

Join us for a conversation with the Renowned Craftsman Jack Ipekjian as he shares more about his work, the process behind it, and the details that make historic woodwork so special. Jack will give an overview of his craft and take us behind the scenes of several projects, including work related to the Greene & Greene Blacker House and the Martin Flavin House.
Through these projects, we will get a closer look at the craftsmanship, materials, techniques, and incredible attention to detail that define the work of Greene & Greene and the Arts and Crafts tradition.

Craftsman Heights Walking Tour
Take a walk through one of Pasadena’s remarkable early residential neighborhoods and discover the stories behind Craftsman Heights.
Developed in the early 1900s as Pasadena expanded, Craftsman Heights is filled with beautifully preserved examples of the Craftsman style, from broad porches and low-pitched roofs to exposed rafters, Arroyo stone, and handcrafted wood details. Along the way, we’ll look at the architects, builders, and homeowners who shaped the neighborhood, including the work of David M. Renton, William C. Leonardi, Robert F. Foss, and others.
We’ll explore what makes a Craftsman a Craftsman, how these homes reflect Pasadena’s Arts and Crafts ideals, and the resident-led preservation effort that helped protect the neighborhood as a Landmark District.

Inside The Lanterman House – A Special Open House
Welcome to the Lanterman House, a beautifully preserved 1915 Craftsman home designed by Arthur L. Haley for Dr. Roy and Emily Lanterman. Built of reinforced concrete and retaining its original furnishings, the home offers a unique opportunity to experience a key moment in time in Southern California.
Guided by expert docents, visitors will engage with the architecture, craftsmanship, and the remarkable family whose legacy helped shape La Cañada and greater Los Angeles.

Each year, Pasadena Heritage’s Craftsman Week celebrates the enduring beauty, craftsmanship, and cultural legacy of the Arts and Crafts movement in Pasadena and beyond. Through a thoughtfully curated series of interior tours, walking tours, lectures, exhibitions, and hands-on craft demonstrations, the week invites the public to experience historic architecture and traditional artistry in meaningful and inspiring ways.
In 2025, Craftsman Week welcomed more than 1,200 visitors from across the region, bringing together homeowners, designers, preservationists, artists, students, and families in a shared appreciation for craftsmanship and place. From rare opportunities to step inside significant historic homes to engaging conversations with scholars and makers, the week reflects Pasadena Heritage’s mission to connect people to history through lived experience.
