Craftsman Week: Day 4

Crafting Illumination: A Tour of Old California Historic Lighting and Home Design

$20 member | $25 non-member

Tours offered every hour from 10am until 2pm

Discover why historic homeowners and preservation architects trust Old California with their most demanding lighting projects, from accurate reproductions for the Gamble House to custom, period-appropriate fixtures for a new addition to LA's Union Station. Tour our factory in Orange, CA and learn about our process from design to delivery—how we transform ideas into fixtures with authentic character. You’ll see firsthand the level of detail and historical accuracy that makes our lighting worthy of America's architectural landmarks.

The Gamble House: Behind the Velvet Ropes tour

$50 member | $60 non-member

Tour starts at 10:00am

The Gamble House is a National Historic Landmark and exemplifies the work of Greene & Greene, the Pasadena firm whose architecture and furnishings helped to shape the American Arts and Crafts movement and contributed significantly to Southern California’s early 20th century artistic heritage and built environment. This in-depth tour, lasting two and a half hours, will be conducted by one of our most impassioned and experienced docents. The longer format allows time for discussion and for guests to see details close at hand that are normally only viewed from a distance, from the carved redwood frieze in the living room to the joinery inside of drawers. The tour includes a break for light refreshments in the basement, a space which is only seen on special tours.
