Craftsman Week

Throughout the week of this beloved tradition, Pasadena will come alive with tours, talks, concerts, and special events celebrating the city’s rich Craftsman legacy. Highlights include walking tours of historic neighborhoods, VIP art glass and tile experiences, a keynote lecture by the Magnolia Network series Restored host Brett Waterman, engaging exhibits, a lively craft fair, and even an intimate concert in front of the famed Blinn House fireplace. Ongoing all week are daily tours at the Gamble House, a lunchtime conversation with the Pasadena Museum of History, and a Save the Tiles exhibit at the Blinn House.

Craftsman Week kicks off with Walking Tours of North Marengo in historic Garfield Heights and Crafting Memories: Family Day at the Gamble House. Then, after dark, join Pasadena Heritage for a night-time exploration of funerary architecture and the eternal resting places of Pasadena’s famous and infamous residents.

Craftsman Week: Day 3

Immerse yourself in the legacy of Greene & Greene and the artistry of the American Arts and Crafts movement. Begin with a docent-led tour of the Gamble House, a National Historic Landmark showcasing exquisite handcrafted details and original furnishings. Then, step outside for a walking tour of the Park Place tract, where ten early Greene & Greene homes (including Charles Greene’s own residence) reveal the firm’s evolving style within Pasadena’s historic Arroyo Seco landscape.

Enhance your visit with a special talk by Bryan Mead, renowned metalwork specialist and collector, who will share insights into the artistry of early 20th-century metalwork—followed by a reception and exclusive viewing of the exhibition on display throughout the Gamble House.

Enjoy A Lunchtime Conversation with artist Cha-Rie Tang & Save The Tiles at the historic Blinn House, featuring an inspiring dialogue, curated tile exhibits, and a full buffet lunch. Begin with an in-depth Details & Joinery Tour at the Gamble House, led by master woodworker Jim Ipekjian. Explore history up close on the Ford Place Walking Tour, including an interior visit to Pasadena Heritage’s new home, the Blinn House. Stroll through the lively Flea Market & Craft Fair, where artisans and vendors showcase Craftsman-style goods, vintage treasures, and sustainable designs. Conclude with Gardens & Gables, a guided outdoor tour of the Gamble House grounds, highlighting Greene & Greene’s vision for early 20th-century outdoor living.
