Michelle Huneven is the author of six novels, most recently Search and Bug Hollow. For years, she was a restaurant critic for the LA Times and LA Weekly. To this day she contributes to the LA Times Food Section. She has also taught creative writing at UCLA for the last 20 years..
She is a graduate of the Iowa Writers Workshop. Among other honors, she has received a James Beard Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and a Literature Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
Michelle was born in Altadena and moved back to town, a mile from her childhood home, on September 10th, 2001. She and Michele Zack have been friends since the first day of high school at Muir, and neighbors for 23 years--until their homes burned down in the Eaton fire. While rebuilding, Michelle is living in Echo Park with her husband, Jim, her dog, 2 rescued goldfish, and a talkative African Gray parrot.
The Foothill Catalog Foundation is happy to present a monthly lecture series and social hour in collaboration with Pasadena Heritage, Altadena Heritage, Bungalow Heaven Landmark District, and the Altadena Historical Society, hosted at the Eaton Fire Collaboratory. Through this series, we aim to highlight the unique history and diversity of our community. There are many stories to tell, so you can look forward to hearing from experts and community members alike. Whether you are a local looking to learn something new about your neighborhood or a building professional interested in contributing to the rebuild efforts, this series is for you. Truly, it's for all of us - to gather together and celebrate what makes this place special. We hope to see you there!
A $10 suggested donation is requested with your registration. All event proceeds will support the mission of The Foothill Catalog Foundation and allows us to continue hosting the Altadena Revealed lecture series!
