Power Up, Pasadena! (PUP) is a free hands-on, early-career exploration pilot that introduces Pasadena-area students ages 10-17 to the electrical trades through engaging workshops at the historic Blinn House. In partnership with Pasadena Heritage and led by City of Pasadena electricians and IBEW Local 18 volunteers, PUP uses real tools, demonstrations, safety lessons, and STEM-aligned activities to help kids understand electricity, magnetism, conductivity, and the essential role of skilled trades in community safety and rebuilding.
The program addresses a critical and growing shortage of tradespeople by sparking early awareness, curiosity, and confidence—while giving students simple PPE, interactive activities, and fun, age-appropriate content.
Adult supervision is required for all students under 14. Parents or guardians must sign a waiver before leaving the premises.
