Quietly tucked off South Marengo Avenue, Marguerita Lane is a hidden 1920s gem lined with charming Spanish Colonial Revival homes. Developed between 1927 and 1930 by Dr. Alexander Schutt and designed by his sons, Denman and Burton Schutt, the sixteen small houses feature stucco walls, red clay tile roofs, arched entries, and lush gardens. Highlights include a striking “birdcage” balcony and beautifully recessed windows that create a rhythmic streetscape. Nearly unchanged for almost a century, Marguerita Lane Historic District remains one of Pasadena’s most cohesive and picturesque examples of 1920s revival architecture.
