California Choro Club

$25 Members/ $30 Nonmembers/ Free Golden Tickets
We celebrate Latino Heritage Month with the California Choro Club. Ami Molinelli, pandeiro, reunites with mandolin phenom Eva Scow and 7-string guitar extraordinaire Nando Duarte in a reunion of the California Choro Club that began with a festival in Santa Monica.  Choro is Brazil's oldest national music, and the trio will blend over 150 years of music with song styles that birthed the Brazilian jazz and samba.  Choro developed simultaneously as our ragtime, and greats like Pixinguinha and Donga met greats like Scott Joplin in Paris in the 1930s.  Blending European salon melodies with styles like the polka, mazurca, schottish, waltz, African rhythms and song form, and sophisticated harmonies, choro is resurgent in Brazil and abroad!
